[News & Trends]:The production method and process flow of polyester chips, and what are the commonly used raw materials

Polyester chips are an important raw material for chemical production, widely used in fields such as plastics, fibers, and films. The following is the manufacturing method for polyester chips:

1. Preparation of raw materials

1 Terephthalic acid (PTA): PTA is the main raw material for producing polyester chips. It is a white crystalline powder with a high melting point

2. Ethylene glycol (EG): Ethylene glycol is another raw material for producing polyester chips. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with good solubility and moisture absorption

2、 Esterification reaction: PTA and EG are added to the esterification reactor in a certain molar ratio, and the esterification reaction is carried out under the action of a catalyst to generate diethyl terephthalate (BHET). Esterification reaction is an exothermic reaction that requires controlling the reaction temperature and continuously discharging the water generated by the reaction to promote the progress of the reaction

3、 Polycondensation reaction

Transfer BHET into a polycondensation reactor and conduct the polycondensation reaction under high temperature and high vacuum conditions to generate polyester polymers. The condensation reaction is a gradual polymerization process that requires controlling the reaction temperature and vacuum degree to obtain polyester polymers with suitable molecular weight

4、 Slicing preparation: Cut the polyester polymer generated by the condensation reaction into slices of a certain length and thickness using a slicing machine to obtain the polyester chip product. The thickness and length of slices can be adjusted according to production needs

The above is the basic manufacturing method for polyester chips, and the specific production process also needs to pay attention to the following points:

1 Catalyst selection: Both esterification and condensation reactions require the participation of catalysts, and different catalysts have different effects on reaction rate and product quality. Therefore, it is necessary to choose appropriate catalysts according to production needs

2. Control of reaction temperature: Esterification reaction and condensation reaction are both exothermic reactions, and the reaction temperature needs to be controlled to avoid the occurrence of side reactions and product degradation

3. Control of vacuum degree: The condensation reaction needs to be carried out under high vacuum degree conditions to eliminate low molecular by-products generated by the reaction and improve product quality

4. Control of raw material purity: The purity of PTA and EG has a significant impact on product quality, so it is necessary to control the purity of raw materials to improve product quality

In summary, the manufacturing of polyester chips requires strict control of various process parameters to ensure product quality and production efficiency.
