[News & Trends]:Acetaldehyde production methods and production process, what are the commonly used raw materials

Manufacturing Method of Acetaldehyde

Acetaldehyde is an important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in medicine, plastics, rubber, textile and other fields. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the manufacturing methods of acetaldehyde. In this paper, we will introduce three manufacturing methods of acetaldehyde: alcohol oxidation method, ethylene oxidation method and acetylene water method.

I. Alcohol oxidation method

Alcohol oxidation method is the main method of producing acetaldehyde, usually with ethanol as raw material, under the action of catalyst, high temperature oxidation reaction to produce acetaldehyde. Specific steps are as follows:

1. Mix ethanol vapor with air in a certain proportion and enter the oxidation reactor.

2. In the reactor, ethanol vapor is oxidized to acetaldehyde and water vapor at high temperature.

3. The reaction product is cooled and separated to obtain acetaldehyde crude.

4. The crude acetaldehyde is then refined to obtain a higher purity acetaldehyde product.

II. Ethylene oxidation method

Ethylene oxidation method is a method to produce acetaldehyde by oxidation reaction with ethylene as raw material. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Mix ethylene with oxygen in a certain proportion and enter the oxidation reactor.

2. In the reactor, ethylene is oxidized to acetaldehyde at high temperature.

3. The reaction product is cooled and separated to obtain acetaldehyde crude product.

4. The crude acetaldehyde is then refined to obtain a higher purity acetaldehyde product.

3. Acetylene hydration method

Acetylene hydration method is a method to produce acetaldehyde by hydration reaction under the action of catalyst with acetylene and water as raw materials. Specific steps are as follows:

1. Mix acetylene and water in a certain proportion and enter the hydration reactor.

2. In the reactor, acetylene and water under the action of a catalyst undergo a hydration reaction to produce acetaldehyde.

3. The reaction product is cooled and separated to obtain acetaldehyde crude.

4. The crude acetaldehyde is then refined to obtain a higher purity acetaldehyde product.

The above three methods can be used for the production of acetaldehyde, but alcohol oxidation is currently the main method for the production of acetaldehyde at home and abroad, because its raw material ethanol is widely available, the price is relatively low, and the process is more mature. However, different manufacturing methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the suitable manufacturing method should be selected according to the specific situation.

In general, the manufacturing method of acetaldehyde involves several chemical reactions and process steps, which require strict control of the reaction conditions and operation process to ensure the quality and yield of the product. Meanwhile, the pollutants such as waste gas and waste water generated during the manufacturing process need to be effectively treated and discharged to ensure environmentally friendly and sustainable development.
