Manufacturing method of beet acid
I. INTRODUCTION
Beet acid is an important raw material for the production of chemicals, which is widely used in the fields of medicine, food and agriculture. With the growing market demand, the manufacturing method of beet acid has become a hot spot of research. In this paper, we will introduce a manufacturing method of betulinic acid, which has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple operation and high yield.
II. MATERIALS AND METHODS
1. MATERIALS
The materials required for this experiment include: beet, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, ethanol and so on.
2. Equipment
The experimental equipment includes: stirrer, reactor, centrifuge, drying box, etc.
3. Manufacturing method
(1) Pretreatment of beetroot
Beetroot was cleaned and chopped into small pieces, then treated with sulfuric acid to convert the sugar in it into acid.
(2) Extraction of beet acid
The treated beet was washed with water, and then sodium hydroxide solution was added to adjust the pH to neutral, so that the beet acid was precipitated. The precipitate was centrifuged and separated to obtain the crude beet acid.
(3) Purification of betulinic acid
The crude betulinic acid is added to ethanol, heated to reflux, so that the impurities are dissolved, and then cooled and crystallized to obtain betulinic acid crystals of higher purity.
4. Analytical methods
The purity of betulinic acid was analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography.
III. Results and Discussion
1. Results
Through the experiment, we successfully produced beet acid crystals with high purity. The specific experimental data are as follows:
| Item | Numerical value |
| --- | --- |
| Mass of beet (g) | 500 |
| Mass of crude beet acid obtained (g) | 30 |
| Purity (%) | 60 |
| Mass of beet acid crystals obtained in the end (g) | 20 |
| Purity (%) | 95 |
2. Discussion
In this experiment, we used the sulfuric acid treatment of beet to convert the sugar in it into acid, thus increasing the yield of beet acid. At the same time, we used sodium hydroxide solution to adjust the pH value to precipitate the beet acid, which simplified the operation process. In the purification process, we adopted the method of refluxing ethanol, which effectively removed impurities and obtained beet acid crystals with high purity. The manufacturing method has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple operation, high yield, etc., and has certain practical application value.
IV.CONCLUSION
In this paper, a manufacturing method of betulinic acid was introduced, and the feasibility and validity of the method were verified through experiments. The method has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple operation, high yield, etc. It provides a feasible solution for the industrialized production of beet acid.
