[News & Trends]:Butyl stearate production method and production process, what are the commonly used raw materials

Manufacturing method of butyl stearate

Butyl stearate is an important raw material for the production of chemicals, which is widely used in the fields of plastics, rubber, coatings, cosmetics and so on. This article will introduce the manufacturing method of butyl stearate.

I. Raw material preparation

The main raw materials for manufacturing butyl stearate are stearic acid and n-butanol. Before starting the production, the raw materials need to be inspected for quality to ensure that their purity and stability meet the production requirements.

Two, esterification reaction

Stearic acid and n-butanol are added into the esterification reactor according to a certain molar ratio, and the esterification reaction is generally carried out at a temperature of 60-80℃. Constant stirring is required during the reaction to promote the uniformity of the reaction. At the same time, the pH value of the reaction solution needs to be controlled between 7-8 to avoid the occurrence of side reactions of the esterification reaction under acidic environment.

Third, dehydration treatment

After the end of the esterification reaction, the reaction solution needs to be dehydrated to remove the residual water. Generally, molecular sieve or magnesium sulfate and other desiccants are used for dehydration treatment, and the water content in the treated reaction solution should be controlled below 0.1%.

Four, distillation and purification

The reaction solution after dehydration treatment contains unreacted stearic acid and n-butanol and other impurities, which need to be purified by distillation. Generally, vacuum distillation is used to distill out the butyl stearate at lower temperature, and at the same time avoid the decomposition of butyl stearate at high temperature.

V. Quality inspection

The butyl stearate after distillation and purification needs to be inspected for quality, including purity, color, acid value, moisture and other indexes. The butyl stearate which meets the quality standard can enter the finished product tank, and the one which does not meet the standard needs to be purified or processed again.

Above is the basic manufacturing method of butyl stearate, the specific production process needs to be adjusted and controlled according to the actual situation to ensure the quality and stability of the product. At the same time, the production process needs to pay attention to safety and environmental protection, and comply with relevant laws and regulations and provisions.
