Manufacturing Method of Electrolytic Copper
Electrolytic copper is an important raw material for chemical production, widely used in electrical, light industry, machinery manufacturing and other fields. This article will introduce the manufacturing method of electrolytic copper in detail, including raw material preparation, electrolysis process, product processing and other steps.
I. Raw material preparation
The manufacture of electrolytic copper requires the preparation of copper concentrate, sulfuric acid, oxygen and other raw materials. Among them, copper concentrate is the main raw material, generally requires the copper content of more than 20%. Sulfuric acid is used as an electrolyte, and oxygen is used for oxidation reaction. In the process of raw material preparation, it is necessary to carry out strict quality testing of raw materials to ensure that the purity and quality of raw materials meet the production requirements.
II. Electrolysis process
1. Leaching
Copper concentrate is mixed with sulfuric acid to carry out the leaching reaction, generating copper sulfate and iron ions and so on. The leaching process needs to control the reaction temperature and time to ensure that the copper ions are fully leached. At the same time, in order to prevent the influence of impurities such as iron ions, it is necessary to add an appropriate amount of oxidizing agent, so as to generate precipitates and remove them.
2. Purification
The leaching solution contains a large number of impurity ions, such as iron, zinc, arsenic and so on, and it is necessary to purify the leaching solution. Generally, ion exchange method, solvent extraction method and other methods are used to purify the leaching solution and remove the impurity ions.
3. Electrolysis
The purified leaching solution enters the electrolysis tank and is passed into direct current for electrolysis. On the cathode, copper ions get electrons to reduce to copper monomers deposited on the cathode; on the anode, oxygen ions in sulfuric acid lose electrons to generate oxygen. The electrolysis process needs to control the current, voltage and other parameters to ensure the electrolysis efficiency and product quality.
Three, product treatment
After electrolysis is completed, the copper monomers on the cathode need to be stripped down for surface treatment and product testing. Surface treatment generally adopts mechanical polishing or chemical polishing and other methods to remove oxides and impurities on the product surface. Product testing includes testing the chemical composition and physical properties of the product to ensure that the product quality meets the standard requirements. In conclusion, the manufacturing method of electrolytic copper needs to go through several steps, such as raw material preparation, electrolysis process and product treatment, etc., each of which needs to strictly control the process parameters and quality indexes to ensure product quality and production efficiency. At the same time, safety management and environmental protection measures need to be strengthened in the production process to ensure the smooth progress of the production process and the health of employees.
