[News & Trends]:Trichloroethylene production methods and production process, what are the commonly used raw materials

Trichloroethylene is an important raw material for the production of chemicals, which is widely used in the manufacture of plastics, rubber, paints, solvents and other fields. In this paper, we will introduce the manufacturing method of trichloroethylene, including raw material preparation, reaction process, and post-treatment.

I. Raw Material Preparation

The following raw materials are needed to manufacture trichloroethylene: vinyl chloride, chlorine gas and anhydrous aluminum chloride. Among them, vinyl chloride can be produced by ethylene chlorination or acetylene method, chlorine gas can be produced by electrolysis of saline water and other methods, and anhydrous aluminum chloride can be produced by reacting metallic aluminum with chlorine gas.

II. Reaction Process

1. Add anhydrous aluminum chloride to the reactor and heat to a certain temperature to melt it.

2. Pass vinyl chloride and chlorine gas into the reactor, control a certain ratio and flow rate, so that the gas is in full contact with anhydrous aluminum chloride.

3. Under the catalytic effect of anhydrous aluminum chloride, vinyl chloride and chlorine gas react to produce trichloroethylene and hydrogen chloride gas.

4. Control the reaction temperature and pressure to make the reaction proceed smoothly and avoid the generation of by-products.

3. Post-treatment

1. After the reaction is finished, stop energizing vinyl chloride and chlorine gas, and cool the reactor to room temperature.

2. Pour the reaction solution into the dispensing funnel, add appropriate amount of water, stir well and leave to stratify.

3. Separate the lower layer of anhydrous aluminum chloride for recycling; separate the upper layer of trichloroethylene and water.

4. Distill the trichloroethylene and separate the pure trichloroethylene product.

4. Precautions

1. In the manufacturing process, the quality and proportion of raw materials should be strictly controlled to avoid the generation of impurities and by-products.

2. The control of reaction temperature and pressure has an important influence on the quality and yield of the product, and needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation.

3. Pay attention to safety in the post-treatment process to avoid contacting corrosive substances such as anhydrous aluminum chloride.

In conclusion, the manufacturing method of trichloroethylene needs to strictly control the process parameters and operation process of each link to ensure the quality and yield of the product. At the same time, attention needs to be paid to production safety and environmental protection to avoid hazards to operators and the environment.
