Manufacturing method of sodium salicylate
I. Introduction
Sodium salicylate is an important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in the fields of medicine, dyes, spices and pesticides. In this paper, we will introduce the manufacturing method of sodium salicylate, including raw material preparation, reaction process, post-treatment and product quality control.
II. Raw material preparation
1. Salicylic acid: salicylic acid is the main raw material for the production of sodium salicylate, and industrial grade salicylic acid with high purity and stable quality should be selected.
2. Sodium hydroxide: choose industrial grade sodium hydroxide with high purity.
3. Solvent: water or ethanol can be chosen as the reaction solvent.
3. Reaction process
1. Dissolution: add salicylic acid into the reactor, add appropriate amount of solvent, stirring and heating until dissolved.
2. Alkalization: dissolve sodium hydroxide in appropriate amount of solvent, slowly add into the reaction kettle, while keeping stirring and heating, so that salicylic acid and sodium hydroxide fully react.
3. Neutralization: Monitor the pH value of the reaction solution with an acidimeter, when the pH value reaches a predetermined value, stop adding sodium hydroxide solution and continue stirring for a period of time to make the reaction complete.
4. Cooling and crystallization: Cool the reaction solution to a certain temperature to precipitate sodium salicylate crystals.
5. Filtration and washing: Separate the sodium salicylate crystals from the mother liquor with filtration equipment, and wash the crystals with water to neutral.
Four, post-processing
1. drying: the washed sodium salicylate crystals in the drying equipment, control a certain temperature and vacuum, drying.
2. Crushing: The dried sodium salicylate crystals will be crushed to obtain a certain particle size of the product.
3. Packing: The crushed sodium salicylate products are packed according to the requirements and stored in dry, cool and ventilated warehouses.
V. Product quality control
1. Physical and chemical indexes: according to the relevant standards of sodium salicylate, test the melting point, boiling point, density, refractive index and other physical and chemical indexes of the product.
2. Purity: Test the purity of sodium salicylate in the products by adopting high performance liquid chromatography or other suitable methods.
3. Heavy metal content: use atomic absorption spectrometry or other suitable methods to test the heavy metal content in the products to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
4. Microbiological indicators: conduct microbiological testing of the product to ensure that the product is sterile or meets the requirements of relevant microbial limits.
6. Precautions
1. Strictly observe the safety operation procedures during operation, wear protective gears and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
2. Strictly control the reaction temperature and pH value to ensure smooth reaction.
3. Carry out regular inspection and maintenance of equipment to ensure normal operation and improve production efficiency and product quality.
4. Strengthen the cleanliness and hygiene management of the production site and keep the production environment tidy.
VII. Conclusion
Through the manufacturing method introduced in this paper, high quality sodium salicylate products can be produced. In the actual production process, each process parameter should be strictly controlled to ensure stable and reliable product quality. At the same time, the safety management and environmental protection of the production process should be strengthened to realize green and efficient production.
