Manufacturing Method of Aluminum Fluoride
I. Introduction
Aluminum fluoride is an important inorganic fluoride with a wide range of applications. In the field of raw materials for chemical production, aluminum fluoride is mainly used as a flux for smelting aluminum and other metals, as a sintering agent in the ceramic industry, and in the manufacture of other fluorides. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the manufacturing method of aluminum fluoride for improving production efficiency, reducing cost and improving product quality.
II, the nature and use of aluminum fluoride
Aluminum fluoride is a white or slightly gray crystalline powder, odorless, with a high degree of chemical stability, insoluble in water, but will decompose in acidic solutions. Aluminum fluoride is mainly used as a flux for smelting aluminum and other metals, as a sintering agent in the ceramic industry, and in the manufacture of other fluorides.
III. Manufacturing Methods of Aluminum Fluoride
1. Aluminum Hydroxide Method
Aluminum hydroxide method is the main method of producing aluminum fluoride at home and abroad. The method is to react aluminum hydroxide with anhydrous hydrofluoric acid to produce aluminum fluoride and water. The reaction equation is as follows:
Al(OH)3 + 3HF → AlF3 + 3H2O
This method has the advantages of simple process, convenient operation and high product quality, but the production cost is high.
2. Fluorosilicic Acid Method
The fluorosilicic acid method uses fluorosilicic acid to react with alumina or aluminum hydroxide to produce aluminum fluoride and silicic acid. The reaction equation is as follows:
6HF + SiO2 + 2Al(OH)3 → 2AlF3 + 3H2O + SiF4
This method has the advantages of easy to obtain raw materials and low cost, but the product quality is not as good as that of the aluminum hydroxide method, and it needs to take measures to improve the quality of products.
Four, the production process of aluminum fluoride
Whatever method is used, the production process of aluminum fluoride mainly includes raw material treatment, reaction, separation, drying, packaging and other processes. The production process of aluminum fluoride is introduced below, taking aluminum hydroxide method as an example.
1. Raw material treatment
Aluminum hydroxide and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid are added into the reactor in a certain proportion and stirred well.
2. Reaction
Heat and stir in the reaction kettle, so that aluminum hydroxide and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid fully react to produce aluminum fluoride and water. Temperature and pH should be controlled during the reaction to ensure the smooth progress of the reaction.
3. Separation
After the reaction is finished, the reaction solution is left to settle, and the aluminum fluoride precipitate at the bottom and the acidic waste water at the top are separated.
4. Drying
The separated aluminum fluoride precipitate is dried to obtain a dried aluminum fluoride product.
5. Packaging
The dried aluminum fluoride product was packaged to obtain the final aluminum fluoride product.
5. Conclusion
Aluminum fluoride, as an important inorganic fluoride, has a wide range of applications in the field of raw materials for the production of chemicals. Aluminum hydroxide method and fluorosilicic acid method are the commonly used manufacturing methods at present, and different methods have different advantages and disadvantages and scope of application. In the actual production, the appropriate manufacturing method and production process should be selected according to the specific situation in order to improve the production efficiency, reduce the cost and improve the quality of products.
