[News & Trends]:The production methods and production process of PVC, and what are the commonly used raw materials

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a common raw material for chemical production, widely used in construction, pipelines, wires and cables, packaging and other fields. The following is the manufacturing method of PVC:

1 Suspension polymerization method is one of the main methods for PVC production, accounting for over 80% of the total PVC production. This method involves adding raw materials such as vinyl chloride monomer, water, dispersant, and initiator to a polymerization reactor. Under the action of stirring and introducing hot air, the vinyl chloride monomer is dispersed into countless small droplets in water, each containing a certain amount of vinyl chloride monomer. Then, an initiator is added to initiate the polymerization reaction, generating PVC resin. The advantages of suspension polymerization method are low production cost, simple operation, stable product quality, but it requires a large amount of water and dispersants, and the generated wastewater needs to be treated

2. lotion polymerization

lotion polymerization is another PVC production method, and its output accounts for about 10% of the total output of PVC. The method is to add vinyl chloride monomer, water, emulsifier, initiator and other raw materials into the polymerization kettle, form lotion under the action of stirring, and then add initiator to initiate polymerization reaction, to generate PVC lotion. The advantages of lotion polymerization are that the polymerization heat is easy to move out, the reaction speed is fast, and the molecular weight distribution is narrow, but it requires a lot of emulsifiers and wastewater treatment

3. Ontology polymerization method

Ontology polymerization method is a PVC production method that does not use solvents or dispersants, and its yield accounts for about 5% of the total PVC production. This method involves adding raw materials such as vinyl chloride monomer and initiator to a polymerization reactor, and conducting polymerization reaction at high temperature and pressure to generate PVC resin. The advantages of ontology polymerization method are high product purity and good quality, but it requires high temperature and high pressure conditions, and consumes a large amount of energy

Regardless of the method used, the manufacturing process of PVC requires strict control of parameters such as raw material ratio, reaction temperature, and pressure to ensure product quality and production safety. Meanwhile, due to the generation of pollutants such as wastewater and exhaust gas during PVC production, strict environmental protection measures are needed to ensure the environment and human health

In summary, the manufacturing method of PVC needs to be selected based on specific production conditions and product requirements, and different manufacturing methods will have a certain impact on the performance and quality of the product. Therefore, strict control of various parameters is necessary in the production process to ensure product quality and production safety.
