Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a synthetic rubber widely used in the field of chemical raw materials. 1、 The production of nitrile rubber mainly requires two types of raw materials: butadiene and acrylonitrile. Among them, butadiene provides unsaturated double bonds, while acrylonitrile provides oil resistance


2、 Manufacturing process of nitrile rubber 


The manufacturing process of nitrile rubber mainly includes lotion polymerization and solution polymerization


1. lotion polymerization 


lotion polymerization is the most commonly used method in the production of nitrile rubber. In this method, butadiene and acrylonitrile are polymerized in water under the action of emulsifier to generate acrylonitrile butadiene rubber lotion. The specific steps are as follows: 


(1) Ingredients: Add butadiene, acrylonitrile, emulsifier, initiator and other raw materials in a certain proportion to the ingredient tank and stir evenly


(2) Polymerization: pump the mixture in the batching tank into the polymerization reactor, and polymerize under the action of initiator to generate nitrile rubber lotion


(3) Dehydration: the nitrile rubber lotion is dehydrated to obtain nitrile rubber latex


(4) Coagulation: Adding a coagulant to latex to cause it to agglomerate into particles


(5) Washing and drying: Wash the rubber particles with clean water and then dry them to obtain the finished product of nitrile rubber


2. Solution polymerization method 


Solution polymerization method is the polymerization reaction of butadiene and acrylonitrile in an organic solvent to generate a solution of nitrile rubber, which is then condensed, washed, dried, and processed to obtain the finished product of nitrile rubber. The production process of this method is similar to that of lotion polymerization, but it requires a large amount of organic solvents and has high production cost


3、 The production equipment of nitrile rubber requires the use of various chemical raw materials such as emulsifiers, initiators, and coagulants, as well as various equipment such as polymerization reactors, ingredient tanks, latex dehydrators, coagulation kettles, washing and drying machines. The selection and configuration of these devices should be determined based on production processes and product requirements


4、 To ensure the product quality and stability of nitrile rubber, strict control of various process parameters and product indicators is required during the production process. Specifically, it is necessary to control the quality, proportion, and addition sequence of raw materials, control the temperature, pressure, and time of polymerization reactions, and control parameters such as the pH value, degree of dehydration, and amount of coagulant added to the latex. At the same time, regular testing and adjustment of product quality are also necessary to ensure that the product meets relevant standards and requirements
